The Teal Door Cafe

Eco-friendly, Sustainable, Trendy, Recycled, Creative, Quirky, Splendid and the list of adjectives can go on describing the interiors of The Teal Door Café.

The Teal Door Café expresses itself as the Cafe with a soul and it sure is a café Boutique which empowers local women who come from some sort of an abusive background providing them opportunities and skill training to be self reliant.

The Teal Door Café is the brainchild of Shruthi Ravi, an architect and artist by profession. She along with her team explored sustainable ways of decorating the space and has personally designed this 4 storey conceptual and Eco-friendly café, coffee shop or hookah lounge.

The highlight of the place is unquestionably its decor. Each element of the café, be it the lights, tables, chairs, ceiling, staircase, and doors have been built using innovative and skilled processes as they strongly believe in Up cycling metal waste like bike chains, window railings and the café is designed using metal and plywood scraps, unused tiles, and the sort that flawlessly blends with the contemporary decor.

The café is spread across four floors, there are alfresco as well as indoor seating options-– benches to sofas to bar stools to mooda style to booths to large cushions – but somehow they all seem to fit well together.

The soft lighting creates a graceful yet welcoming ambience, accent spot lights are also used over a series of paintings. Overall the aura is casual, hospitable and exceptionally comfortable.

Ground Floor:

Al-fresco and indoor seating options are available on this floor. The red-brick wall facade of the café along with the wide Teal Door is a pleasant backdrop for the multicolored and bright garden furniture you can sit on outside. Once you enter the café, LOOK UP! The beautiful pendant lamps hung from the 1st floor ceiling descend down and look mesmerizing. The open kitchen allows your mouth to water while your milkshake or macho nachos get prepared. The is also a display of handmade products by underprivileged women from various parts of the state like wonderful décor pieces, earrings, cushions , and kitchen accessories using essentially mud and clay, that's up for sale should you want any.

P.S: Don’t forget to take a look at the Screw-style Stools and vibrant moodas.

First Floor:

The first floor exhibits a relaxed vibe, low ceiling, the setting is completely mismatched with different furniture, comfy booths with green sofas and cozy high back chairs, which were fabricated by Shruthi herself. You get an even better view of the 3D triangular Industrial pendant lamps from this floor. The large windows which allow a generous amount of sunlight, fresh air and nature to pour in, are made from the parts of an automobile. Creativity at its finest!

P.S: Don’t forget to take a look at the ceiling and try reading the variety of posters.

Second Floor:

This was one of my favorite floors in terms of design! The layout is similar to the first floor, high back chairs and cozy booth seating, you can also pick up a book to read from their compact library while sipping on some scrumptious hot chocolate. If you’re in a group, you can select a board game from their wide variety of games and relive your childhood memories. As we know, the cafe is eco-friendly, as they use sustainable methods while decorating and running the café, you will find a testube with a flower on each table which adds to the aesthetics of the place. While you’re waiting on some tasty food to arrive, take a look at the table top! Notice how different pieces of recycled wood are put together to construct it.

Third Floor: Coppermint

The interiors of this floor truly catch one’s eye! Be it the suspended colorful pots, the semi sloped roof covered with Mangalore tiles or the different shaped pendant lamps with an exposed bulb which have a striking rhythm to it, or the multi-colored windows! All these elements create a positive and welcoming atmosphere! The cross ventilation and silence makes a person sit there for hours!

While you’re at the café, check out their herb garden at the back which extends vertically to about 20feet high. Various fresh herbs like thyme, basil, and rosemary among others are grown and used in the café’s appetizing food and drinks.

Minute elements added to the café’s décor make The Teal Door Café a magical paradise to enjoy a meal. Head over to The Teal Door café right away for a charming experience designed to satisfy your appetite and eyes.
